Fantasy stories are written to be both highly improbable, and yet quite believable. Characters in fantasy books usually have magic or supernatural prowers. Some types of fantasy stories are animal fantasies, toy fantasies, historical fantasies, high fantasies, ghost stories and science fiction.
Fantasy is the exact opposite of realistic fiction and includes some events, characters, or places that are purely imaginary and would not exist in the actual world. Science fiction is usually set in the future and uses scientific discoveries to explain what the world of the future is like. It creates a world outside the world that we know and often includes space travel or other worlds.
